The Riverdale girls defeated Cumberland County 79-58 at home while Stewarts Creek went to undefeated Bradley Central and pulled out a 55-49 win.

Alexis Whittington led the Lady Warriors with 22 points.

The AAA girls sectional is played Saturday and boys Monday. Cumberland County is at Riverdale girls while Stewarts Creek travels to Bradley Central. In boys, Oakland will host Walker Valley while Blackman goes to East Hamilton.

It's been seven year since the Oakland Patriots have taken the Region 4AAA title. They did it Thursday with a 51-39 win over Blackman. It was the Blaze first loss in two seasons to a district opponent.

The Riverdale girls claim the Region 4AAA championship with a 74-54 win over Stewarts Creek.

The Lady Warriors came out red hot in the game and led 21-10 after the first quarter.

Blackman and Oakland win their semifinals games and will play each other for the Region 4-AAA title.

Riverdale, down by 19 to the Blaze, came roaring back to within one in the final minute.

Congratulations on your accomplishment in making it to the final eight in your classification. We will have a meeting on Sunday, March 5, at 2:00 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel in Murfreesboro (1850 Old Fort Parkway, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 37129) for all 24 teams participating in the Girls’ State Tournament.

Both Riverdale and Stewarts Creek both blew by their competition in the Region 4-AAA Semifinals Monday night at Siegel.

The Lady Warriors, after leading 18-13 after the first quarter, outscored Lawrence County 45-to-18 in the second and third quarters, enroute to a 73-40 win.
