    This completes the 27th year of the sportsmanship program and we continue to approach this area from many different aspects each year.  A full report is always given to the Board of Control by the staff in regard to the number of coaches ejected, disciplinary action, unsportsmanlike incidents investigated, etc.  This allows us to review our approach to this very critical area in all of our sports.  In addition, we will review the 23rd year of the A.F. Bridges Program.

    As you are aware, we launched the TSSAA Network seven years ago.  Matthew Gillespie will provide an update of our progress.
  7. TSSAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee Update
  8. TACA Cards
    The following is being recommended by the TSSAA staff: (a) TSSAA continue to print the TSSAA Directory and TACA pay expenses and shipping. (b) TACA would be allowed to print one card that will be good at our championship events all year with a picture ID required and one person allowed free admittance. (c) TACA will have a representative at the gates to help. (d) All passes must be sent to the Athletic Director of the school.  No passes should be sent to an individual’s home address.
  9. TMSAA Championship Events Report
    The TMSAA held state championships in Cross Country and Track and Field during the 2017-18 school year. A full report will be given to the Board.
  10. Classification
    The 2018-2019 school year starts the second year of our four-year cycle.  Board policy is to reevaluate enrollments in the middle of the classification cycle.  Those schools that have a 20% decrease or increase which causes them to move to a higher or lower class will be moved during the 2018-2019 school year.
  11. Hendersonville Christian Academy Withdraws from TSSAA
  12. Lakeway Christian Academy
    Lakeway Christian Academy was approved for TSSAA membership for the 2018-2019 school year at the March meeting. The school is requesting to postpone their membership until the 2019-2020 school year.
  13. Rossville Christian Academy Requests to Play an Independent Football Schedule
    Rossville Christian Academy requested to play an independent football schedule and continue to be allowed to participate in the post-season basketball tournament at the March meeting. The Board took no action on the request at that time. They have since informed the state office of the schools they do not intend to play in football and made their request again. Supplement #11 contains the request from the school. They would like to continue to be allowed to participate in the post-season basketball series.

  15. Tipton Christian Academy Requests TSSAA Membership
    Tipton Christian Academy, located in Covington, is a small private school accredited by AdvancEd with an enrollment of approximately 250 students in grades K-11. If approved, they plan to compete in basketball, cross country, golf, volleyball, and track and field. They will be placed in Division II, Class A, District 6 in all sports they offer which are sanctioned by our organization.
  16. Portland High School Requests DI Classification Change
    Portland High School is requesting that the Board reclassify Division I baseball, basketball, and softball into four classes effective with the 2019-2020 school year.

  18. Officials’ Fee Schedule
    Board members tabled a discussion on officials’ fees at the March meeting and asked the staff to bring back their recommendation on middle school and junior varsity officials’ fees.
  19. The Closing of GRAD Academy, W.E.B. Dubois High School of Arts and Technology, and Dubois High School of Leadership and Public Policy
    The Shelby County Interscholastic Athletic Association has informed our office that GRAD Academy, W.E.B. Dubois High School of Arts and Technology, and Dubois High School of Leadership and Public Policy are closing for the 2018-2019 school year. The middle schools at both of the W.E.B. Dubois locations will remain open.

  21. Spring Hill High school Requests to Chage Districts
    Spring Hill High School is requesting to change Districts effective with the 2018-2019 school year.
  22. Girls’ Wrestling Dual Meet Invitational
    Mark Reeves will explain a proposal from the Wrestling Advisory Committee to add a Girls’ Wrestling Dual Meet which, if approved, would be held in conjunction with the State Dual Meet Tournament.
  23. Career Magnet Academy Requests TSSAA Membership
    Career Magnet Academy is under the jurisdiction of the Knox County Board of Education. Career Magnet Academy is accredited by AdvanceEd and has an enrollment of approximately 300 students in grades 9-12. If approved, they plan to compete in bowling, cross country, and golf. They will be placed in Division I, Class A, District 4 in bowling, Region 2 (Small) in cross country, and District 3 (Small) in golf.
  24. Grace Christian Academy (Franklin) Requests to Play an Independent Football Schedule
    Grace Christian Academy is requesting to play an independent football schedule and continue to be allowed to participate in the post-season basketball tournament. Administrators from the school will be present to address the members of the Board.
  25. Concord Christian School Withdraws from Football
    Concord Christian administration has submitted a letter stating their intent to not field a varsity football team for the 2018-19 school year. Follow-up letters from the state office and action taken are also included.
  26. Pleasant View School Requests TSSAA Membership
    This is an independent school in Shelby County that has been in existence for approximately 23 years. They are accredited through AdvancEd and their current enrollment in Pre-school through 12th grade is 460. They have approximately 150 students in grades 9-12. If approved, Pleasant View School will be placed in Division II, Class A (West), District 6 in basketball, volleyball, cross country, soccer, tennis, and track and field. These are the sports they currently offer at their school. The request is to become a TSSAA member in middle and high school effective at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.
  27. Family Christian School Requests TSSAA Membership
    Family Christian School, which is located in Jackson, was a member in 2015-16 and had a cooperative agreement with North Side High School in one sport. They are requesting to rejoin the organization as an “affiliate member” in 2018-19 and form a cooperative agreement with Sacred Heart. Their current enrollment is 22 students in grades 9-12. If approved, FCS will be placed in Division II, Class A. Affiliate membership will not affect their postseason participation since they will not be offering sports at their school.

  29. Macon Christian Academy Requests TSSAA Membership
    Macon Christian Academy is requesting to join our organization in order to co-op with another member school. Macon Christian Academy has been granted approval as a Category 1 school. It is an independent school with twelve students in grades K-12. If approved, they will be placed in Division I for the 2018-19 school year, as requested.
